Broadcast Rights

Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has acquired the television and digital rights to broadcast and stream all New Zealand-based Blackcaps and White Ferns matches into India and associated territories for the next seven years.

It bears noting that SPNI’s digital rights in India will be co-exclusive with incumbent rights holder Amazon Prime for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons. 

While financial details were not disclosed, Economic Times reported that the deal value was in the $90 million to $100 million ball park.

MUMBAI: American Premier League (APL) announces JioCinema as the digital streaming partner in India for their second edition of the league that will take place in Moosa Cricket Stadium in Houston, Texas from 19th – 31stDecember.  The APL is sanctioned by the ICC and USA cricket board, and will be streamed live on the OTT platform, Jio Cinema at 8:00 PM IST every day of the league.

MUMBAI: Digital sports platform FanCode will exclusively livestream the latest edition of Dream11 Super Smash 2023-24.  The games are set to kick off from December 19, with the final being held on 28 January 2024.  FanCode will showcase all 32 men's and women's doubleheader matches across 10 venues in New Zealand. This will be the fourth consecutive year when Super Smash will be broadcast on FanCode.

During the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier league earlier this year, Viacom18 was locked in a legal battle with online betting platform ‘FairPlay’ over its alleged infringement of the network's digital streaming rights for the IPL.  The legal action pursued by Viacom18 led to the of the arrest of Gulam Abbas Muni, a key executive behind FairPlay’s operations in India.
