MADRID: "The creation of a separatist and elitist league would mean the end of the European national leagues, end a European tradition of more than 100 years and break the dream of millions of fans of national competitions". This was the contention made by LaLiga Saturday (December 3) morning during the presentation of the KPMG study on the economic damage caused by the European Super League and its impact on LaLiga and the professional football clubs in Spain.

NEW YORK: JP Morgan, the still-born European Super League's principal financial backer, has said it "misjudged" how fans would react to the breakaway competition. The American investment bank said it had committed €3.25 billion ($3.92bn) as start-up capital for the league, which posed a direct challenge to UEFA's Champions League and also threatened to devalue Europe's top domestic leagues.

MUMBAI: And then there were 4... counting down to nothing.... Italian Serie A side Inter Milan and LaLiga club Atletico Madrid have seen the writing on the wall, following the lead provided by Premier League clubs Tuesday to announce on Wednesday their intention to walk away from the fast disintegrating European Super League.
