Asia/Oceania Group I

NEW DELHI: The International Tennis Federation has confirmed Dubai as the venue for the Asia/Oceania Group I Fed Cup matches, to be held in UAE's commercial capital from March 3 to 7.

The ITF had initially announced that Nur-Sultan (formerly Astana), Kazakhstan, would be hosting the event after moving out the matches from Dongguan, China, due to the Coronoavirus threat ravaging the nation. LONDON: The ITF has announced that the Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Asia/Oceania Group I event, due to take place next month at the Dongguan Tennis Centre in Dongguan, China, P.R., will now be played in the National Tennis Centre in Nur-Sultan (formerly Astana), Kazakhstan.  The Asia/Oceania Group I contest has India, China, Indonesia, Korea, Chinese Taipei and Uzbekistan competing.

NEW DELHI: Doubles specialist Rohan Bopanna on Monday said he has no security concerns about playing Davis Cup in Pakistan, where he has always enjoyed "great hospitality". No Indian Davis Cup squad has travelled to Pakistan since March 1964 and Bopanna will be in the Indian team which will compete in Islamabad in September for the Asia/Oceania Group I tie, PTI reports.
