BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Sports Minister Chandra Sarathi Behera and International Hockey Federation (FIH) President Narinder Batra announced Wednesday that the capital city is set to host one of the three Hockey Series Finals to be held from 6-16 June 2019. The Hockey Series is open to national teams that are not playing in the Hockey Pro League.

BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha government on Monday announced in a press release from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) that all educational institutions and government offices in the state will remain closed for the opening ceremony of the Odisha Men's Hockey World Cup today after 1.30 pm. The inaugural event will be held Tuesday evening with the likes of AR Rahman, Shahrukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit set to perform.

BHUBANESWAR: Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik on Friday released the official Men's Hockey World Cup anthem ‘Jai Hind’ composed by renowned music director and composer A.R. Rahman and penned by veteran lyricist Gulzar, IANS reports. The anthem reflects sports, unity and inspiration. Rahman told IANS that the song has been shot in Odisha, Mumbai, Chennai and other parts of the country.

BHUBANESWAR: Frenzied promotional activity and the presence of celebrities have resulted in the tickets for the opening ceremony of the men's hockey World Cup being sold out within hours of ticket sales going online on Tuesday. The opening ceremony will be held at the Kalinga Stadium in the city on 27 November followed by the World Cup Celebrations program the next day at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack.

NEW DELHI: The captain of the Indian men's hockey team, Manpreet Singh on Tuesday signed up with adidas, the global sports giant ahead of the season-ending Odisha Hockey World Cup to be played in Bhubaneswar from 28 November to 16 December. IOS Sports and Entertainment, one of India’s largest sports marketing and talent management companies, brokered the deal on Manpreet’s behalf.
