INDIAN RACING FESTIVAL (IRF) returns this weekend (4–5 October) with Round 3 at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore. Following a mid-season break, the championship resumes after thrilling opening rounds at both the Kari Motor Speedway and Chennai’s Madras International Circuit.
The spotlight will once again be on the Indian Racing League (IRL), the franchise-based series, alongside the Formula 4 Indian Championship and the JK Tyre National Racing Championship LGB F4. Now in its 28th consecutive year, the JK Tyre National Racing Championship remains the country’s longest running racing championship by a single promoter, with the India-developed Formula LGB4 car evolving technologically since its debut season, per the release.
With IRL drivers battling for every crucial point, the standings could not be tighter. Hyderabad Blackbirds—featuring Jon Lancaster (Britain), Akshay Bohra, Gabriela Jilkova (Czechia), and Mohamed Ryan—hold a narrow lead on 51 points. Breathing down their necks are Speed Demons Delhi on 50 points, while the Kolkata Royal Tigers are just one point further back on 49, setting up a fierce three-way title fight where every lap counts.
Racing Promotions Private Limited chairman & managing director Akhilesh Reddy said, “With two rounds completed, we’ve seen encouraging growth in competitiveness and fan engagement this season. Returning to the Kari Motor Speedway is always special. The circuit offers unique challenges and has a strong connection with Indian motorsport, making it the perfect stage for Round 3. This round, we expect the competition to reach new heights with closer battles across all three championships, unpredictable weather adding to the drama, and an even larger fan turnout that will make the atmosphere at Kari truly electrifying.”
Reddy further added on the larger vision of the IRF, “Our mission is to nurture homegrown talent and create a sustainable ecosystem at par with international standards. The strong response so far shows that India is ready for a motorsport culture of its own, and we are committed to positioning the Indian Racing Festival as a marquee event on the global calendar.”
