MUMBAI: The Boxing Federation of India has extended the last date for submission of bids by companies for licensing the rights to run its upcoming Indian Boxing League.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the BFI says that the date of submission of the bids and opening of the bids has now been extended to 11 September 2017. The rest of the provisions of the tender notice remain unaltered. The bids can now be submitted by 3 pm on 11 September 2017 and will be opened at 4 pm on the same day.
The original deadline for submission of bids for a 10-year license to run the Indian Boxing League on their behalf was 16 August.
The BFI announced plans to launch its own franchise-based league in March.
When BFI president Ajay Singh had announced plans to launch a franchise-based league in March, he had said then that the IBL would help youngsters not only develop their skills and exposure, but also provide for them financially and contribute to their preparations for the 2020 Olympics.
