KOLKATA: The West Bengal government has allocated a 15 acre plot of land for the All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) National Centre of Excellence that is proposed to be set up at Rajarhat in the next two years.

AIFF president Praful Patel had earlier this week announced that the federation would set up a top class facility with financial and technical help from world body FIFA. In the wake of the successful hosting of the U-17 World Cup across six cities in the country, the AIFF also plans to establish six AIFF academies across the country, each housing 30-50 young boys and girls.

“As a continuing effort of this U-17 World Cup, a National Center of Excellence will be set up with help from FIFA. It will be set up in two year’s time. The national senior men and women’s team as well as the age group teams will be housed in this center. It will have all kinds of facilities under one roof, mental and physical training, the best of classroom training,” a PTI report quotes Patel as saying.
