Dravid, Saina, Padukone among those singed in ponzi scheme

MUMBAI: Former Team India captain Rahul Dravid and badminton star Saina Nehwal are among the sports personalities who have been cheated by a Bengaluru firm in which they have invested in, according to a media report.

Vikram Investments has been accused of duping 1,776 investors of billions of rupees, a Times of India report quotes the Bengaluru police as confirming.

Police officials have said that Dravid and his kin had invested Rs 350 million in the firm and managed to claim Rs 200 million. The former Team India skipper himself accounted for investments worth Rs 200 million in the past six years, where he claimed Rs 120 crores back, the TOI report adds.

Nehwal had reportedly invested Rs 15 million, out of which she has managed to claim Rs 7.5 million. 

Indian badminton legend Prakash Padukone and former Karnataka cricketer Avinash Vaidya are also among the many victims who invested in the firm.

The Bengaluru police have nabbed Raghavendra Sreenath, the mastermind behind the scheme and his accomplices. According to police sources, the size of the scam by the Bengaluru firm is estimated to Rs 3 billion, the report adds.
