IOC signs uniform supplier deal covering next 2 Olympics

LAUSANNE: The International Olympic Committee announced Monday a partnership with Chinese textile company Hengyuanxiang Group (HYX), spanning the next two editions of the Olympics.

HYX will supply the official formal uniforms to the IOC members and administration for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games.

The announcement was made in Beijing at a meeting between IOC president Thomas Bach and HYX president Liu Ruiqi.

Hengyuanxiang Group, which was founded in 1927 in Shanghai, is one of the most famous textile companies in China. The group has a history of supporting sport in China, including as a sponsor of the Olympic Games Beijing 2008 and as a partner of the Chinese Olympic Committee (COC) from 2009 to 2012 and a sponsor of the COC from 2013 to 2016.

Bach said: “We are pleased to be working with HYX and look forward to wearing our formal uniforms with pride in Tokyo next year and in Beijing in 2022. I would like to thank in particular IOC vice-president Zaiqing Yu for his work in bringing this agreement to life.”

Liu Ruiqi, president of HYX, said: “To have the opportunity to provide the formal uniforms to the IOC is a great honour for HYX, and we hope such cooperation will continue as long as possible.”
