THANE, Maharashtra: Japanese sportswear company ASICS India, in association with Asia’s premier distance running event Tata Mumbai Marathon (TMM), hosted the TMM Promo Run for residents of Thane to help them prepare for the bigger test that awaits on the 19th of January 2020.
The TMM Promo Run was designed specifically to include an uphill stretch to train the runners to overcome the elevated stretch of Peddar Road during the Tata Mumbai Marathon.
The run began at Upvan Lake, covering a course of 10 km and passing through Meadow Circle at 5:45 am in Thane. For an overall engaging experience, the participants were offered informative advice by ASICS experts on how to prepare themselves for the rigors of running a difficult stretch. There was also an on-site kiosk that offered runners a comprehensive GAIT analysis to help them improve the efficiency of their running.
Rajat Khurana, managing director, ASICS India, said: “There are many challenges associated with running that we might not always anticipate or experience. The TMM Promo Run was an attempt to bring people closer to their love for running and help them experience and understand the rigors of overcoming demanding terrains like the Pedder Road stretch. ASICS has been a constant partner for runners across the globe fortheir full and half marathon-journeys, and we shall continue to support them right up to the finish line."
Vivek Singh, joint managing director, Procam International, said: “It is delightful to see the TMM extending its borders beyond Mumbai, and reaching out to runners in Thane as they gear up for the all-important race day. Pre-race training is a very important aspect for every runner, and we couldn’t have a better partner than ASICS as the experts to take up this mandate.”
The residents of Thane have a known affinity for running and a long association with Mumbai's iconic marathon. As many as 160 stepped out and participated in full enthusiasm for the Uphill run.
