MUMBAI: Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren has mentioned his pride in being able to “be an important part of strengthening the football ecosystem in India”.

In a letter to AIFF president Praful Patel, Soren wrote: “When it comes to Jharkhand, sports is a way of life and particularly football. I feel proud to lead a state that has produced some of the finest football players for the country, and continues to do so. We, as a state, feel proud to be an important part of strengthening the football ecosystem in India.

The I-League had been suspended following the increasing cases of the Delta and Omicron variants of the Coronavirus across the country.

NEW DELHI: The roadmap for the Hero Indian Super League, laid out September 2020, wherein relegation and promotion is to be introduced from the 2024-25 season, and leading up to that, the Hero I-League winners will get “direct slots” in the ISL from the 2023-2024 season, remains on track, All India Football Federation (AIFF) general secretary Kushal Das said on Monday.

NEW DELHI: The Hero I-League 2021-22, which is all set to kick off from December 26 in three venues in and around Kolkata, will have the widest geographical spread spread to date. The upcoming edition will feature 13 teams from 11 cities.   The Mohun Bagan ground in Kolkata, the picturesque Kalyani Stadium and the Naihati Stadium are the three venues that will host the latest edition of the I-League.

NEW DELHI: Three Hero Indian Super League (ISL) clubs have failed to get the new license which would have given them entry to both AFC and national club competitions. Hyderabad FC, SC East Bengal and Kerala Blasters FC are the three clubs that were not handed licenses by the AIFF to be able to take part in AFC and national competitions this season, ANI reports.

NEW DELHI: The AIFF executive committee has approved Kerala as the venue for the forthcoming Senior Women’s National Football Championship ( NFC). The committee also complimented the Kerala state government for their unprecedented support for the development of Indian football. The Senior Women’s NFC will be held in three venues, and five stadia from November 25-December 9.
