NEW DELHI: All India Football Federation has come up with a policy a create a support system for football players and technical staff who have served Indian National Teams and may require support related to hospitalisation costs, or grants to their families in case of the footballer’s death – all with an aim to move forward together.

The Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Goalkeeping Coach and the FIFA Referees/FIFA Assistant Referees fall under the periphery of the technical staff.

NEW DELHI: Former All India Football Federation vice-president CR Viswanathan passed away Monday.  He is survived by his wife, daughter, and son. Apart from being the AIFF vice-president (2004-08), Viswanathan was also a member of the AIFF executive committee from 2008 to 2012, and chairman of the AIFF Technical Committee from 2009 to 2012.

NEW DELHI: Former Indian national football team midfielder M Prasannan passed away earlier Thursday in Mumbai. Prasannan made his debut against the erstwhile Republic of (South) Vietnam on August 9, 1973, in the Merdeka Cup, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He went on to play 2 Internationals for India, and scored in both of them.

NEW DELHI: The All India Football Federation (AIFF) is all set to recommend Indian national football team captain Sunil Chhetri’s name for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award.  Relevant documents for his nomination are yet to be submitted, an official told ANI. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports had extended the deadline for sending the nominations from June 21 for the National Sports Awards 2021.

NEW DELHI: The 2021-22 season of the Hero I-League is tentatively scheduled to kick off mid-December and will be held in Kolkata, as was the case in the 2020-21 edition, the All India Football Federation announced on Saturday. The declaration was made after a meeting chaired by Subrata Dutta, senior vice-president, AIFF, and chairman, League Committee.
