Anti-Corruption Unit

MUMBAI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday appointed former Gujarat DGP Shabir Hussein Shekhadam Khandwawala as the head of its Anti-Corruption Unit.

Khandwawala replaces Ajit Singh, former DGP of Rajasthan, whose tenure ended on March 31. Singh has been a part of the Indian cricket board's ACU since April 2018.

"It is a matter of a great honour that I am part of the BCCI which is the best run cricketing body in the world.

"Besides my expertise on security matters, what should help me in this role is my love for the game.

MUMBAI: Taking the IPL to the UAE will make monitoring the event "slightly easier" as it would be restricted to just three venues, BCCI's Anti-Corruption Unit head Ajit Singh believes. IPL 2020 is set to start in the UAE on September 19 and the final will be held on November 8 or November 10, with three venues - Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi hosting the 60 games over 51 days.

NEW DELHI: BCCI’s Anti-Corruption Unit chief Ajit Singh Shekhawat has proposed a match-fixing law, besides legalisation of betting, to tackle corruption in Indian cricket.  This was after 12 cricketers, including national and international, reported corrupt approaches in the last one year. The Tamil Nadu Premier League has come under scanner for suspect activity.
