India looking to host Sudirman Cup, Junior Worlds; writes to BWF

NEW DELHI: The Badminton Association of India (BAI) has written to the Badminton World Federation (BWF), expressing its interest to host the Sudirman Cup finals this year.

India was scheduled to host the mixed team championship in 2023, but the BWF awarded the rights to Suzhou, China, while giving the 2026 World Championships to India.

Suzhou was due to host the championships in 2021 but, due to the COVID-19 situation in China, the BWF was not able to stage any tournaments in the country and the event was shifted to Vantaa in Finland.

Srikanth, who reached five finals and clinched four titles this year so far, now has 73,403 points, 4527 point away from World Champion Viktor Axelsen of Denmark, who heads the ranking list.

LONDON: The Badminton World Federation (BWF) have announced global betting and gaming brand 12BET as an official partner of the TOTAL BWF World Championships 2017, which will be played in Glasgow, Scotland from 21 to 27 August. The partnership, negotiated by Infront Sports & Media, a Wanda Sports company, will provide 12BET with product category exclusivity and branding within the arena’s field of play.
