NEW DELHI: A petition was filed in the Delhi High Court seeking an enquiry as to why the Indian Premier League (IPL) is being prioritized over public health and to direct the Centre, the Delhi government and cricketing bodies BCCI and Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) to stop the matches with immediate effect.

The plea, accessed by ANI, was filed by advocate Karan Singh Thukral and social activist Inder Mohan Singh urging for directions to the respondents to held an inquiry as to why the IPL is being prioritized over public health.

The organization’s secretary Vinod Tihara has been found guilty of misconduct and indiscipline for interfering in the appointment of professionals, selection and cricket committees, Indian Express reports.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi & District Cricket Association on Thursday announced the appointment of Ravi Kant Chopra as chief executive officer (CEO), PC Vaish as chief financial officer (CFO) and GR Saxena as chief operations officer (COO) of the DDCA. The appointments have been made as per the recommendation of Justice Lodha Committee and in accordance with related orders of Supreme Court, a statement said.

NEW DELHI: Rajat Sharma, founder chairman of Hindi news channel India TV, has been elected president of the scandal-ridden Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA), defeating India’s 1983 World Cup winning player Madan Lal by a massive 517 votes. The third candidate in the running was Supreme Court Bar Association president Vikas Singh who got just 232 votes.
