The gross gaming revenue from fantasy sports during the 2023 edition of the TATA Indian Premier League season could reach up to Rs 2,900-3,100 crore, growing at 30-35% over 2022, a study by Redseer Consulting estimates.

The number of transacting users during the 2023 IPL season is expected to be around 68 million, a 25-30% growth over the last season. Around 80% of the users are expected from the smaller cities.

In 2022, the gross gaming revenue was Rs 2,260 crore and the number of transacting users was at an estimated 55m.

CHENNAI: Draftstars, one of Australia's most recognised fantasy sports platforms, has been launched in one of the fastest growing fantasy sports markets in the world. Draftstars India drew 2300 registrations in its first week of operation, with tens of thousands of rupees being paid out in its initial few days. It marks the first time the pay-to-play fantasy sports platform has expanded outside of Australia.

LONDON: Formula One has made an investment in fantasy sports platform PlayON at a company valuation of £30 mmillion ($42.6 million). PlayON will serve as the official daily fantasy partner of Formula One and run the new fantasy games. The deal includes the integration of live Formula 1 grands prix, via Formula 1's new media service F1 TV, on to the PlayOn platform in key markets.
