NEW DELHI: The satraps helming many sports federations in the country will not take kindly to a bald truth highlighted by Indian Olympic Association president Narinder Batra - that is was the way federations were being run, rather than lack of support from the government, that was the biggest hurdle to the competitive performances of various sports on the international arena.

LONDON: National tennis federations have voted overwhelmingly in favour of "transformational" proposals to revamp the Davis Cup and turn it into a season-ending 18-team event. A two-thirds majority among the 140 nations was needed at the International Tennis Federation's (ITF) annual general meeting.

GENEVA: The Formula One drivers' association on Thursday backed the International Automobile Federation's decision to choose the Halo frontal cockpit protection for 2018. Formula One Strategy Group decided on Wednesday to pick Halo cockpit over Escudo, the two options they had to provide extra protection to the driver, which was backed on Thursday by Association chairman Alex Wurz, reports Efe.
