Hero I-League

NEW DELHI: The All India Football Federation Friday issued an invite to accept bids for new clubs to join the Hero I-League from the 2023-24 season onwards.

Under the Vision 2047 plan unveiled by the AIFF earlier this year, the federation plans to increase the number of teams in the I-League in a triple-tier system in order to provide opportunities to aspiring clubs and/or investors from various socio-economic backdrops.

MUMBAI: After copping flak for not televising all I-League games, the All India Football Federation and its commercial partners have met the aggrieved clubs some way, announcing the live streaming all upcoming games on OTT platforms Hotstar and Jio TV. The online broadcast went onstream Friday, starting with Neroca FC facing Shillong Lajong in a 2 pm kick-off in Imphal.

KOLKATA: Aggrieved by the lack of coverage after the revised I-League telecast schedule by official broadcaster Star Sports last month, seven I-League clubs met under the banner of the I-League (Private) Clubs Association in the city last week to "mobilise the entire football community to fight the injustice".

NEW DELHI: Defending champions of the I-League and the Indian Super League, Minerva Punjab FC and Chennaiyin FC respectively, are all set to make their debut in Asia's premier club competitions in 2019, with the possibility of a face-off later on, Press Trust of India reports. Chennaiyin FC will make their debut in Asia through the 2019 AFC Cup, beginning with the play-off round in March next year.

BANGKOK: The Hero I-League won silver at the Asian Sports Industry (SPIA) 2018 Awards in the “Best Developing Football League of the Year” category nominated by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) in the city on Tuesday. The Hero I-League is the premier league in the country and the ongoing edition is being played among 11 clubs, the champions of whom get a slot for the AFC Champions League qualifier.

NEW DELHI: The All India Football Federation will hold its annnual general meeting on December 20, the AIFF executive committee, which met here Saturday at AIFF's headquarters, "unanimously" decided. Updating the committee about I-League matters, Sunando Dhar, CEO, I-League, informed that the Hero 2nd Division will kick off next month.

MUMBAI: The first round of the new Hero I-League 2018/19 season ended on Sunday and witnessed encouraging attendance figures at the five home venues - Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium in Coimbatore, Khuman Lampak Main Stadium in Imphal, EMS Stadium in Kozhikode, Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Chandigarh and Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium in Shillong.

CHANDIGARH: The Hero I League defending champions, Minerva Punjab FC have obtained the national as well as Asian Football Confederation (AFC) club license which allows them to compete in tournaments across Asia, should they qualify for them. The club owner, Ranjit Bajaj took to his personal Twitter account to announce the development on Saturday.

NEW DELHI: The 2018-19 edition of the Hero I-League, which kicks-off on October 26, will be telecast live on the Star Sports network. All India Football Federation’s developmental side Indian Arrows take on Chennai City FC in Coimbatore’s Nehru Stadium on the opening day.
