NEW DELHI: Confirming news that has been doing the rounds for a while now, it was announced on Tuesday that there will definitely NOT be a sixth edition of the Hockey India League in 2018.  HIL's governing committee, comprising representatives of Hockey India and other stakeholders, are instead looking to schedule the next edition of India's only professional hockey league to an unspecified window in 2019.

LONDON: Lagardère Sports announced Monday that it will continue to distribute the worldwide media rights for the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) for another four years.  As the the ice hockey league’s media rights partner since its inception in 2008, Lagardère Sports has extended its commitment and will now manage media rights outside of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan from 2017/2018 through to 2020/2021.

CHANDIGARH: The male and female Player, Goalkeeper, Rising Star and Coach of the Year Awards were presented to the winners in a star-studded Hockey Stars 2016 Awards ceremony here Thursday. Olympic Silver medallists - Belgium’s John-John Dohmen, and retiring Netherlands star Naomi Van As, were named the respective male and female Players of the Year for 2016.
