KUALA LUMPUR: India has been recommended as the first South Asian hosts for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2022 by the AFC Women’s Football Committee, which met at the AFC's headquarters in the Malaysian capital Wednesday.

It was felt that India, who will also have the experience of hosting the FIFA Women’s Under-17 World Cup later this year, was best placed among the three bidders – Chinese Taipei and Uzbekistan were the other competing candidates – to maximise the promotion of the women’s game.

MUMBAI: Discovery branded sports channnel DSport has acquired the broadcast rights of the 2018 Nidahas Trophy, to be organised by Sri Lanka Cricket and also featuring India and Bangladesh. The 2018 Nidahas Trophy will be played from 15-30 March. The T20 tournament is being played to celebrate Sri Lanka’s 70th year of independence.

The BCCI and Afghanistan Cricket Board are expected to make a joint announcement after a meeting here Tuesday, PTI reports. The BCCI had last month announced that it would host Afghanistan's maiden Test.

NEW DELHI: The dew factor and cold climatic conditions has forced the BCCI to advance the start of the first and second ODIs between India and Sri Lanka scheduled to be held in Dharamsala and Mohali next month. As per the revised timings issued by the BCCI, both the matches will start at 11:30 AM IST instead of 13.30 PM.

COLOMBO: Sri Lanka Cricket has announced the fixtures of the Tri-nation T20 Series “Nidahas Trophy 2018”. The Nidahas Trophy 2018 – played in celebration of Sri Lanka’s 70th year of independence, coincidentally, Sri Lanka Cricket’s 70th year as well – was announced in March this year at a joint press conference that gathered the heads of the participating countries, India, Bangladesh and host Sri Lanka.
