NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Thursday ordered status quo after the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) filed an urgent plea challenging a Delhi High Court order appointing a Committee of Administrators (CoA) to run its day-to-day affairs.

A Bench, led by Chief Justice of India NV Ramana, took on record IOA’s appeal that India may lose all opportunities of participating in international events if the CoA runs the sporting body.

NEW DELHI: The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has announced a 322-strong Indian squad including 215 athletes and 107 officials and support staff, for the Birmingham Commonwealth (CWG) Games 2022 scheduled in the English city from July 28. The squad will look to improve upon its Gold Coast 2018 CWG performance, where it finished third behind traditional powerhouses Australia and England.

NEW DELHI: Veteran sports administrator Narinder Batra on Monday resigned as president of International Hockey Federation (FIH) with immediate effect and also gave up his membership of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). In three separate letters, Batra officially tendered his resignations from the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), IOC and FIH respectively.

NEW DELHI: Veteran sports administrator and FIH president Narinder Batra was on Friday ordered to stop functioning as Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president by the Delhi High Court "in a contempt proceeding", a month after it asked him to relinquish the top job. A vacation bench of Justice Dinesh Sharma passed the order on a contempt petition filed by Olympian and hockey World Cup winner Aslam Sher Khan.
