International Kabaddi Federation

As they say: "There is many a slip between the cup and the lip." Mashal Sports, the Disney Star-promoted organisers of the well established franchise-based Pro Kabaddi League, have been hit with a googly in the wake of its recent announcement that it would soon be staging a women’s kabaddi league.

A potential spanner has been thrown in the works as far as those plans are concerned after the International Kabaddi Federation (IKF) denied having given its endorsement to Mashal Sports for organising a women’s kabaddi league.

In another welcome development for women's sport in India, Mashal Sports, organizers of the Pro Kabaddi League, have taken a leaf out of the BCCI handbook and its upcoming Women's Premier League, announcing plans to launch a franchise-based women’s tournament.

MUMBAI: The New Kabaddi Federation of India (NKFI) on Wednesday launched the Indo International Premier Kabaddi League which is all set to begin on 26 January next year, three weeks after the completion of the Pro Kabaddi League, Press Trust of India reports.

DUBAI: Janardan Singh Gehlot was re-elected the president of the International Kabaddi Federation (IKF) for the next four years, it was announced after the annual general Congress (AGC) of the federation, conducted here on Friday. Observer and director of International Affairs Olympic Council of Asia Vinod Tiwari was also present in the AGC of the IKF where 22 member countries participated.

DUBAI: The International Kabaddi Federation (IKF) will be holding its annual general body meeting on June 29 in the city and is reportedly considering the venue strongly for next year’s World Cup, Press Trust of India reports.  Dubai is also playing host to the ongoing six-nation Kabaddi Masters tournament.
