NEW DELHI: A week after the Equestrian Federation of India sent a letter to the Sports Ministry, asking to be exempt from certain provisions of the National Sports Code, Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju on Thursday reiterated in the Lok Sabha (Lower House of Parliament) that all national sports federations (NSFs) will have to adhere to the code.

NEW DELHI: Senior Congress leader and Member of Parliament (MP) Shashi Tharoor has taken the Private Members Bill called the Sports (Online Gaming and Prevention of Fraud) to Lok Sabha, the lower house of Parliament. The development comes nearly two weeks after the same bill was first tabled in the Rajya Sabha (Upper House of Parliament.

NEW DELHI: The Lok Sabha (Lower House of Parliament) on Friday passed the National Sports University Bill, 2018, clearing the way for the formation of the country’s first ever National Sports University in Manipur. The Bill was passed by a voice vote.

MUMBAI: If India holds general elections next year between April and May, as per schedule, then there would perforce have to be a major reworking of when (and even where) the BCCI stages next year's Indian Premier League.    It also bears noting that India will be hosting the ICC World Cup in 2019, from May 30, which would also have to be factored in while drawing up the IPL schedule.
