It is also no coincidence that the world bodies running hockey and football respectively - FIH and FIFA - have serious issues with the way HI and AIFF are being managed.

NEW DELHI: Veteran sports administrator Narinder Batra on Monday resigned as president of International Hockey Federation (FIH) with immediate effect and also gave up his membership of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
In three separate letters, Batra officially tendered his resignations from the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), IOC and FIH respectively.

NEW DELHI: Veteran sports administrator and FIH president Narinder Batra was on Friday ordered to stop functioning as Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president by the Delhi High Court "in a contempt proceeding", a month after it asked him to relinquish the top job.
A vacation bench of Justice Dinesh Sharma passed the order on a contempt petition filed by Olympian and hockey World Cup winner Aslam Sher Khan.

LAUSANNE: In the closest of votes, Narinder Batra has been re-elected as president of the FIH for a second four-year term.
Of the 124 votes submitted by member national associations, Batra attained the required absolute majority of more than half the votes, receiving 63 votes to the 61 given to Marc Coudron of Belgium. Batra will hold the position until 2024.

NEW DELHI: The International Hockey Federation on Friday ruled that the complaint of irregularity filed by IOA vice-president Sudhanshu Mittal against FIH president Narinder Batra "is not sustained".
In his complaint, Mittal had accused Batra of violating the FIH's statues by holding the post of Hockey India (HI) president when he was elected FIH head in November 2016.
