Novel media rights deal: NZ Rugby takes 5% stake in Sky

AUCKLAND: New Zealand Rugby and Sky have agreed a pathbreaking new broadcast deal that will see Sky deepen its investment in all levels of the island-nation's No. 1 sport and NZR become a 5% shareholder in Sky.

NZR and Sky Monday announced the new broadcast agreement which extends Sky’s existing SANZAAR broadcast rights to 2025.

Comcast wins Sky bid with $40bn offer
LONDON: Comcast Corporation CMCSA, Sunday announced that Comcast had beaten back Rupert Murchoch's 21st Century Fox , which handled the bidding for new owner Disney, with the highest offer price in the auction to acquire the entire issued and to be issued share capital of Sky plc with an offer price of £17.28 per Sky share.

Sky, Perform win Serie A b'cast rights for Italy
MILAN: Sky plc, Europe's dominant satellite pay TV operator, and sports media group Perform, have won the broadcast rights for Serie A in Italy until 2021. While financial details were not revealed, the combined value of the media rights works out to €973 million ($1.2 billion) per season on average, Reuters reports.

PokerStars parent acquires Sky Bet for $4.7bn
TORONTO: The Stars Group (TSG), parent company of PokerStars, announced at the weekend that it has agreed to acquire Sky Betting & Gaming (SBG) from CVC Capital Partners and Sky plc in a cash and stock transaction valued at $4.7 billion.  This combination will result in the world's largest publicly listed online gaming company.
