NEW DELHI: After successfully carrying out three editions of the Khelo India Youth Games, the Indian government has decided to conduct the Khelo India University Games. The first edition is being organized by the government of Odisha in association with the Sports Authority of India, Association of Indian Universities, National Sports Federation and Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and participating universities from February 22 to March 1.

NEW DELHI: The Indian Golf Union (IGU) is divided over an EGM convened on June 6 to amend its constitution as demanded by the Sports Ministry, with a faction terming the meet ‘illegal’.  According to a report in Hindustan Times, this meet is essential in due to the Sports Ministry derecognising the federation since it failed to comply with the National Sports Code and holding elections.

NEW DELHI: The Sports Ministry will invite the country’s top businessmen to invest in the National Sports Development Fund (NSDF) as a part of a ‘public-private partnership’, Times of India reports.  The government will be looking to rope in those corporates who have a history of supporting sporting initiatives in the executive board that manages the NSDF.

NEW DELHI: The Union budget for 2018-19, presented by finance minister Arun Jaitley Thursday, had some cheer for the Sports Ministry as its overall allocation was increased by Rs 2.582 billion to Rs 21.9636 billion, up from the Rs 19.3816 billion earmarked last year.

NEW DELHI: The Union Sports Ministry on Monday announced Star Sports as the broadcast and production partner for its flagship initiative Khelo India School Games (KISG) for the next five years from 2018 until 2022. Starting from 31st January, these Under-17 annual games will in its first edition have 16 different sports disciplines.

NEW DELHI: Beijing Olympic Games Gold medallist Abhinav Bindra on Friday resigned as the chairman of the Sports Ministry’s Target Olympic Podium (TOP).   In posting on his official Twitter handle, the Indian shooter announced his decision and said he will now focus on private projects and expanding his Abhinav Bindra Targeting Performance Centres across India.
