AHMEDABAD: The former general secretary and present executive director of the Swimming Federation of India, Virendra Nanavati, was elected to the world body of aquatic sports FINA; as bureau (World at Large) member during the FINA general congress held in Doha on Saturday. 

Nanavati is credited with working for the furtherance of aquatic sport in India over the last four decades and 25 years at the Asian federation level.  

Nanavati is the 1st Indian to be elected as a bureau member in the last 113 years of FINA’s history and will serve a four-year term from 2021-2025.
