MUMBAI: Reliance and Viacom18 Tuesday announced a strategic partnership with Bodhi Tree Systems, which is a platform of James Murdoch's Lupa Systems and Uday Shankar, to form one of the largest TV and digital streaming companies in India.

Bodhi Tree Systems is leading a fund raise with a consortium of investors to invest Rs 13,500 crore in Viacom18, to jointly build India's leading entertainment platform and pioneer the Indian media landscape's transformation to a "streaming-first" approach. Viacom18 owns and operates the suite of Colors TV channels and OTT platform, VOOT.

MUMBAI: The Walt Disney Company webcast its Investor Day 2019 on April 11. The event included a presentation by Walt Disney Asia Pacific president and Star/Disney India chairman Uday Shankar. Shankar's presentation, largely focused around Hotstar, noted that Star's OTT platform has reached the 300 million monthly active users mark and detailed growth expectations of the network over the next five years.

MUMBAI: Star India is now officially the one-stop shop for all big-ticket cricket played in India after the 21st Century Fox subsidiary retained its hold on BCCI rights for the next five years with a winning bid of Rs 61.381 billion.  Star's bid for the global consolidated rights to Indian cricket amounts to an average per match value of Rs 601.77 million for the 102-game BCCI FTP for the period 2018-2023.
