Sony Sports extends UEFA EURO rights into 2024, 2028 editions

MUMBAI: Sony Sports Network on Tuesday announced the extension of its collaboration with UEFA for all Europe's national team competitions up to 2028. 

This gives the network exclusive media rights for the 2024 and 2028 editions of UEFA EURO, along with its European qualifiers and friendly matches.

The UEFA tournaments will be available exclusively on both linear television in the Indian subcontinent, including India, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Maldives, and Sri Lanka, as well as live-streamed on their on-demand OTT platform SonyLIV.

Guidelines for participation in UEFA competitions issued
LYON, France: The UEFA executive committee met Thursday via videoconference. Of the two scenarios being examined by the Calendar Working Group, both envisage domestic football starting before UEFA club competitions, with one seeking to run the competitions in parallel and the other to complete domestic matches before re-starting UEFA matches in August.

UEFA to postpone EURO 2020 by a year: Reports
BRUSSELS: Several media outlets, including L’Equipe, report that UEFA will announce that it will postpone EURO 2020 by a year, until 2021, so that the Champions League and Europa League may conclude instead this summer. Both competitions will be suspended until further notice.

UEFA releases Champions League revenue distribution details
LYON: UEFA has released details of the distribution of revenue to clubs from the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League, the 2019/20 UEFA Europa League and the 2019 UEFA Super Cup as well as solidarity payments for the qualifying phases. The gross commercial revenue from the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League, the 2019/20 UEFA Europa League and the 2019 UEFA Super Cup is estimated at around €3.25bn.
