SHANGHAI: FIFA will double its funding for women's football to $1 billion over the next four years, the game's world governing body stated following a meeting of the FIFA Council here Thursday.

The council voted to invest $1 billion in women’s football over the course of the 2019-2022 cycle, as a result of an agreement on extra dedicated funding in the amount of $500 million. This amount will be taken from FIFA’s reserves as an addition to the $500 million already approved by the FIFA Congress to be invested in women’s football as per the budget of the current four-year cycle.

LONDON: England football’s governing body, The Football Association (FA) submitted on Wednesday its official bid to stage the UEFA Women’s Euro 2021 finals in the country. UEFA’s Executive Committee will announce the winner on 3 December 2018.
