World Archery

LAUSANNE, Switzerland: Sony Pictures Networks India Private Limited (SPN) will retain media rights to broadcast major international archery events on its sports channels as well as livestream it on its premium OTT platform SonyLIV across the Indian subcontinent until the end of 2023. 

The network has extended its deal with World Archery, financial terms for which were not disclosed, for two seasons.

LAUSANNE: World Archery has announced the Lockdown Knockout, the first remote archery competition to be streamed live on the federation’s digital channels. Eight compound archers – four men and four women – will be invited to take part in the first edition of the tournament, which will start with a qualification period on 1 May and matchplay following on 9-17 May.

LAUSANNE: World Archery’s executive committee has extended the suspension of all international competition and development activities until the end of June. The stoppage, originally announced to last until 30 April, was introduced in mid-March because of the rapidly worsening worldwide health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

LAUSANNE: World Archery has conditionally lifted the suspension of the Archery Association of India following elections in New Delhi on 18 January. The decision was made by executive board postal vote. Indian archers are allowed to compete in World Archery events as of Thursday 23 January.

NEW DELHI: The Indian Olympic Association on Monday received full support from World Archery on its proposal to host a Commonwealth championships for the sport in March 2022, which, alongside shooting, is not on the roster of disciplines in play at the 2022 Birmingham Games.

LAUSANNE: World Archery has suspended the Archery Association of India effective Monday 5 August 2019. A previous executive board decision gave a deadline of the end of July for the election situation to be resolved. No resolution has been reached. Indian athletes will be permitted to compete in the 2019 World Archery Youth Championships in Madrid, Spain on 19-25 August.

KOLKATA: After all the bluster and bombast by rival factions of the Archery Association of India that held two separate elections despite warnings not to do so, the sport's global governing body has delivered its verdict - World Archery has delisted AAI.   AAI has been given a month’s dadline within which to either get its house in order or face suspension.

KOLKATA: A 15-member executive board of World Archery, headed by president Ugur Erdener, will vote whether to suspend Archery Association of India or not after evaluating the reports submitted by the two parallel elected bodies of the AAI. The WA executive board meets at Den Bosch, the Netherlands, on Friday on the sidelines of the World Championships to decide this.
