IOC confirms 140th session in Mumbai; wants IOA CEO in place

LAUSANNE: The International Olympic Committee has directed the Indian Olympic Association to appoint a chief executive officer without further delay, and also confirmed that the 140th IOC session will be held in Mumbai in October this year.

The IOC formally acknowledged the results of the IOA elections during its executive board meeting here on Wednesday night.

"The EB took note that, further to its decision on December 6, 2022, the NOC elections successfully took place and a new president has been elected.

Mumbai to host 140th IOC Session from 15-17 October
LAUSANNE: The 140th IOC Session in Mumbai has been confirmed for 15, 16 and 17 October.  An IOC Executive Board (EB) meeting will be held on 12 and 13 October, prior to the IOC Session, while the Opening Ceremony of the IOC Session is scheduled for 14 October, the IOC announced Monday.

Thomas Bach to stand unopposed for IOC presidency
LAUSANNE: International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach will be the only candidate for the presidential election to be held during the 137th IOC Session in Athens in March 2021, it was announced Tuesday. As decided by the IOC executive board, the elected president will take office after the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, which will take place from 23 July to 8 August 2021.
