June 22: The Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 (Tokyo 2020) has published its final financial report detailing its revenues and expenditures, which were balanced, and the overall financial results of the Tokyo 2020 Games.

Thanks to the efforts made to increase revenues and continuously review expenditures, Tokyo 2020 achieved a balanced budget of JPY 640.4 billion ($5.8 billion*).

TOKYO: Simone Biles, the greatest gymnast of all time, will not participate in Thursday's (July 29) women's all-around final here at Ariake Gymnastics Centre. USA Gymnastics confirmed that Biles will not participate in the all-around final. She wants to focus on her mental health, according to USA Gymnastics. No decision yet on whether she will compete in next week's apparatus finals, as per Olympics.com.

NEW YORK: A record 121 NBA and WNBA players are featured on national team rosters for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.   The men’s and women’s 5x5 competitions will feature a record 49 current NBA players and a record 29 current WNBA players, as well as 16 former NBA and 22 former WNBA players.  The inaugural 3x3 basketball tournament features four current and one former WNBA player.

NEW DELHI: The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) Friday launched Project Tokyo 2020 in a bid to provide Covid appropriate support to Tokyo bound Olympic and Paralympic athletes on behalf of corporate industries. FICCI has launched this project on the opening day of the Tokyo Olympics in recognition of the role of sports in promoting unity and inclusivity in society.

NEW DELHI: World number one Saurabh Chaudhary of India made India’s first final of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics Shooting competition, but missed out on a medal in his first Games, finishing a creditable seventh in the Men’s 10M Air Pistol event.  He finished with a score of 137.4 in the final. The teenager had earlier topped the qualification round with a quality 586 after 60 shots.

NEW DELHI: The Indian Olympic Association on Friday roped in Adani Group as a sponsor for the Indian contingent at the ongoing Tokyo Games. The sponsorship amount was not disclosed other than IOA secretary general Rajiv Mehta, who is in Tokyo, terming it as "good".
