MADRID: "The creation of a separatist and elitist league would mean the end of the European national leagues, end a European tradition of more than 100 years and break the dream of millions of fans of national competitions". This was the contention made by LaLiga Saturday (December 3) morning during the presentation of the KPMG study on the economic damage caused by the European Super League and its impact on LaLiga and the professional football clubs in Spain.

NYON, Switzerland: A day after UEFA was forced to drop its disciplinary proceedings against three clubs still linked to the still-born Super League "project", Europe's governing body for football on Tuesday initiated legal proceedings to remove the judge in a Spanish court case blocking its attempts to punish Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus.

MUMBAI: Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus, the three holdout clubs of the doomed from the get-go European Super League, on Wednesday vowed to fight back against UEFA's decision to open disciplinary proceedings over their roles in trying to launch the ESL.  The continental governing body is investigating “a potential violation of UEFA’s legal framework”.

ROME: The Italian Football Federation (FIGC), passed a ruling Monday that states that Serie A teams who still wish to pursue the European Super League (or any similar entity) on June 21 will lose their league membership.  Italian giants Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan signed up to the controversial breakaway competition earlier this month among 12 elite European clubs.

MUMBAI: Spotify CEO Daniel Ek's bid to buy Arsenal from Stan Kroenke has received the backing of Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira, according to UK's Daily Telegraph. Arsenal's participation in the European Super League, sparked protests outside the Emirates last week, with fans demanding that Kroenke sell the club.
