LAUSANNE: The European Cycling Union (UEC) on Thursday cancelled the 2021 Elite Track European Championships, which was scheduled to be held in Minsk, Belarus, from 23 to 27 June, "in light of the current international situation".
The decision, made at the UEC's management board meeting held Thursday, is a fallout of the escalating international furor over the decision of the autocratic Belarus regime to divert a passenger jet to Minsk so a dissident journalist could be arrested.
