BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik purchased the first ticket of the FIH Mens Hockey World Cup 2023 from Hockey India president Dilip Tirkey here on Wednesday. Odisha is hosting the quadrennial world championship for the second consecutive time and matches will be played in two venues – Kalinga Stadium (Bhubaneswar) and Birsa Munda Stadium (Rourkela) – in the state from January 13 to 29.

NEW DELHI: Former India captain Dilip Tirkey, one of the most-capped India internationals, on Sunday filed his nomination for the post of Hockey India (HI) president. Sunday was the last date for filing nomination papers. The 44-year-old player-turned-politician and administrator is reportedly the frontrunner in the race to head the national hockey governing body.
