World Athletics and the World Federation of Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to continue and strengthen their collaboration.

The agreement seeks to consolidate existing work streams involving athletic shoe regulation. However, the MOU also sets out areas for future cooperation such as getting more kids active and into athletics, enhancing the presentation and the sustainable development of the sport for the benefit of the sport, the athletes, and the industry.

World Athletics on Tuesday announced the automatic qualifying standards for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The standards are the toughest ever for a global championship as World Athletics is aiming for just 50% of entrants to come via the standard, with the remaining 50% to be determined by world ranking.

MONACO: The World Athletics Council has selected Tokyo, Japan, to host the 2025 World Athletics Championships. On the second day of the 228th World Athletics Council Meeting in Oregon, USA, the Council also announced that the 2024 World Athletics Cross Country Championships will be held in Medulin and Pula in Croatia and the 2026 World Athletics Cross Country Championships will be held in Tallahassee, Florida.

Putting players in the shoes of selectors, they will manage a team of athletes and score points based on their real-life performances in Oregon.

MONACO: The World Athletics Indoor Tour will offer enhanced competition opportunities next year with the introduction of three tiers of competition – Gold, Silver and Bronze – comprising 26 meetings spread across 12 countries in Europe and North America. The expanded tour will broaden the geographical spread of meetings around the world and incorporate additional area level competitions.
