MUMBAI: The players auction for the next year's Indian Premier League (IPL) will be held in Kochi on December 23, a BCCI official said on Wednesday. 

The Turkish city of Istanbul, Bengaluru, New Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad were also in contention to host the auction but the BCCI evenatully opted for the coastal Kerala city.

"Logistically, and considering the dates, Kochi turned out to be the most suited option," a BCCI official told PTI.

MUMBAI: The "original eight" Indian Premier League franchises submitted their player-retention list on Tuesday ahead of the upcoming IPL mega auction in January. The franchises have been allowed to retain a maximum of four, while the two new franchises - Lucknow and Ahmedabad - can acquire three from the rest of the player pool before the January auction.

MUMBAI: The Indian Premier League players auction will be held in Chennai on February 18. The news was confirmed on IPL's official Twitter handle on Wednesday.  The auction will be held a day after the scheduled second Test between India and England finishes in Chennai. The player retention deadline ended on January 20 and the trading window closes on February 4.

NEW DELHI: The players auction for the fifth season of the Premier Badminton League here Tuesday saw world champion PV Sindhu and world number 1 women's singles player Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei fetching the highest prices of Rs 7.7 million each. Incidentally, while each franchise had a purse of Rs 20 million, Rs 7.7 million was the maximum a team could bid for a player.

MUMBAI: The players' auction for the next Indian Premier League will be held on December 19 in Kolkata, the IPL governing council decided at a meeting here on Tuesday. The players' auction, being conducted for the first time in Kolkata, is the home turf of BCCI president Sourav Gangulay as well as the Shah Rukh Khan co-owned Kolkata Knight Riders franchise.

NEW DELHI: The Indian Premier League (IPL) players auction for 2020 will be held in Kolkata for the first time, reportedly on December 19. The trading window that is currently open will close on November 14, and all the franchises were informed about it on Monday, according to ESPNCricinfo.
