170 golfers set for ‘72 The League’ player auction

170 PROFESSIONAL GOLFERS from 11 countries will go under the hammer on Monday for the inaugural 72 The League, the franchise-based competition introduced by the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI).

A total of 60 slots will be available in the auction, with each of the six franchises set to select 10 players, making up a total auction purse of Rs 6 crore.

The league, launched by the PGTI in partnership with Game of Life Sports (GOLS), is scheduled to begin on 21 February, with the final set for 6 March.

For the auction, the 170 registered golfers have been divided into three categories, Platinum, Gold, and Silver. The top 30 players on the PGTI’s 2025 Order of Merit will form the Platinum group, those ranked 31st to 60th will be placed in the Gold category, and the remaining players will make up the Silver tier.

The inaugural season will be staged across three golf venues in the Delhi NCR region: Classic Golf & Country Club, Jaypee Greens, and Qutab Golf Course.
