THE BORDER-GAVASKAR SERIES forms the centrepiece of a packed home season that will see India play 22 international matches across 17 cities.
With marquee Test matches, a strong white-ball schedule, and the continued presence of senior stars, India’s 2026–27 home season is set to be one of the most expansive and commercially significant in recent years.
The five-Test series, scheduled across January to March 2027, will begin in Nagpur on January 21, followed by Chennai (January 29–February 2). Guwahati will host the third Test from February 11 to 15, before the series moves to Ranchi (February 19–23) and concludes in Ahmedabad from February 27.
A key highlight of the calendar is the nine One Day Internationals scheduled across the season, where veteran stars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are expected to feature. The ODIs will be spread across multiple series: 3 vs West Indies; 3 vs Sri Lanka; 3 vs Zimbabwe. The fixtures are expected to draw significant attention as the duo continues to anchor India’s white-ball plans amid ongoing transition in the squad.
Guwahati has been as one of the five venues for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia in early 2027, marking a significant milestone for cricket in the Northeast as the BCCI unveiled India’s home international calendar.
Guwahati’s inclusion underscores its growing importance in India’s cricketing map. The Barsapara Stadium only recently hosted its maiden Test in 2025, becoming the first venue in the Northeast to stage a five-day international match.
Notably, established venues such as Mumbai and Kolkata are absent from the series, raising questions about rotation policies and venue allocation.
The season begins with a white-ball series against West Indies in September–October 2026, followed by Sri Lanka’s tour in December and a short ODI series against Zimbabwe in January 2027.
