INDIAN BASKETBALL PLAYER Princepal Singh will compete in the NBA G League for another season after he was drafted by on Saturday by Stockton Kings, the G League affiliate of NBA franchise Sacramento Kings, owned by Indian American businessman Vivek Ranadive.
Princepal played for the Kings during the NBA Summer League, an off-season competition, in August.
Princepal became the first Indian basketball player to be a part of a championship-winning roster in the NBA at any level when the Kings clinched the Summer League title.
Princepal had initially spent the last season with Ignite, a developmental basketball team affiliated with the NBA G League.
The initial plan was to have Ignite play 10-12 exhibition matches against other G-League sides and some of the international and academy outfits. But with the league being played inside a bio-bubble, Ignite was included in the regular G-League season.
Princepal played in just four of the G-League matches last season, managing a total court time of 25 minutes in which he scored nine points and affected four defensive rebounds.
