MUMBAI: Manchester United top the English Premier League table when it comes to popularity in India and worldwide, statistics provided by Google search trend data indicate.
Heading into the competition’s 30th season, Manchester United are the most searched Premier League team in India and 92 other countries – which accounts for 37.2% of the globe.
Arch rivals Liverpool remain in second place in India as well as globally.
Conducted by bookmakers William Hill, the ‘True Colours of Football’ study crunched a range of search volume data for each Premier League club – from key towns and cities in the UK (principally) and beyond.
United are particularly popular in India and China, while they also edge out Liverpool when it comes to traffic from Canada and the United States.
