MUMBAI: BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has moved the Bombay High Court seeking the enforcement of an arbitral order against his former management companies that the former Team India cricket captain claims compensates him with over Rs 350 million.
Ganguly’s argument before the court is that his former management companies Percept Talent Management Ltd and Percept D Mark (India) Limited (both subsidiaries of entertainment, media and communications company Percept Limited) owe him over Rs 350 million, which includes the original compensation of Rs 144.991 million awarded to him by a three-member panel of arbitrators in November 21, 2007, along with interest at the rate of 12% per annum till the date of realisation of the amount.
The application before the court alleges that the directors of the companies have systematically siphoned off monies from their accounts to other firms.
A single Bench of Justice AK Menon directed an affidavit-of-disclosure to be filed by a director of each of the companies named in the petition. The directors will have to obtain all necessary instructions from the Finance Department so that the affidavits-of-disclosure are complete in all respects. The matter will be heard on July 26.
The companies are reported to have paid Rs 20,725,109 and so the fresh application is for the realisation of the balance.
