Eurosport seals 3-yr deal as MotoGP’s India t’caster, replaces Sony

MUMBAI: It was a deal that took affect last year but disn’t get much attention due to the coronovirus pandemic having put much of international sport into lockdown mode.

But SportzPower can reveal that Dorna Sports, the global commercial rights holder of MotoGP, has sealed a three year media rights deal with Discovery-owned Eurosport India to broadcast the the premier world championship for motorcycle road racing in the subcontinent for three seasons – from 2020 through to 2022.

Dorna “sealed the deal” with Eurosport after failing to reach agreenment with incumbent rights holder Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN). For the record, it was in 2015 that TEN Sports Network, then a Zee Entertainment owned sports broadcaster, secured exclusive rights for MotoGP for five seasons. 

Additionally, Eurosport has confirmed that Moto3 and Moto2 action will be a part of the live telecast during race weekends.
