KOLKATA: In what is a sensible decision, ATK Mohun Bagan Private Limited, the new owners of Kolkata’s storied football club, have decided not to do away with The Mariners’ iconic green and maroon jersey.
“The green and maroon colour is staying. That will be the dominant colour of the main shirt,” a source told The Telegraph on Wednesday.
So what happens to the ATK’s red and white colour? “That may not stay,” the source added.
The directors of the new board will have their first meeting on Friday with RP-SG chairman Sanjiv Goenka in attendance. The name of the new club, the logo and jersey colours are expected to be announced after the meeting, the daily reports.
Hero Indian Super League franchise ATK and Mohun Bagan were merged in January and the ISL team’s principal owner Goenka holds an 80% stake in the new entity.
