MUMBAI: What is common between N Srinivasan (former BCCI president), Niranjan Shah (former BCCI secretary), and Anirudh Chaudhry (former BCCI treasurer)? All three worthies have been very vocal badmouthing Shashank Manohar after he announced Wednesday that he was stepping down from the chairmanship of the International Cricket Council.
What else? All three are has-beens as far as the present power politics in the BCCI are concerned.
So why is all their fire and brimstone, which other than providing some good copy, in practical terms will make not an iota of difference to anyone, getting so much media play?
Because the three men who really matter in the BCCI’s power structure today – BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal (brother of Anurag Thakur, Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs and former BCCI president), BCCI secretary Jay Shah (son of Union Home Minister Amit Shah) and BCCI president Saurav Ganguly (former Team India captain), are not talking.
