Football clubs’ Instagram engagement: Blasters 2nd globally

KOCHI: Kerala Blasters FC, the Indian Super League franchise with the largest fan following in India, and the 5th largest in Asia, has come in second, globally, among football clubs having the highest Instagram engagement rates.

Global Digital Platform Benchmark on Instagram

The data, compiled for the month of April, is basis the “Global Digital Platform Benchmark” study conducted by Results Sports, an agency that specialises in digital communication and marketing needs for athletes, clubs, leagues, federations, associations and sponsors.   

Compared to some of the renowned football clubs from around the world, Kerala Blasters FC is well ahead of FC Barcelona (0.97%), Liverpool FC (0.88%) and Manchester United (0.57%). This is a major milestone for a club that is relatively young but built on strong growth fundamentals. 

With an Instagram fan following of 1.4 million, Kerala Blasters is one among 58 football clubs around the world having a follower base in excess of 1 million. 

For the record, top honours have been taken by Grêmio FBPA, at 3.78%. The Brazilian club based in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, plays in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, the top tier of the Brazilian football league system.

Third behind Kerala Blasters is BeĹźiktaĹź J.K. Football Team, at 3.27%. Based in Istanbul, BeĹźiktaĹź is one of the most successful football teams in Turkey, having never been relegated to a lower division.
