MUMBAI: In what is truly a development that has come out of left field as it finally proves true, I-League team Churchill Brothers is reportedly looking at making an entry into the Indian Super League in 2020-21 season.
The Bridge reports that Churchill Brothers, which is owned by Alemao Churchill, is trying to strike a deal with potential foreign sponsors as they harbour hopes of being a part of Indian football’s premier club competition. Additionally, it is being reported that they have suggested tweaking their name to South Goa Churchill Brothers FC, provided they are accorded a spot in the ISL.
Why the “South Goa” addition to the name? To clearly differentiate the club from FC Goa, which has been a part of the ISL from Day 1, would be the reasoning, one can presume.
