CUTTACK: Ahead of The 3rd ODI cricket match between India and West Indies at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released Rs 100 million for repair and renovation works at the facility, Pragativadi quotes Sanjay Behera, Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) secretary, as having confirmed.
As many parts of the stadium suffered severe damage due to cyclone FANI earlier this year, the BCCI had assured the provision of funds for repair work at the stadium. The BCCI on Sunday released Rs 100 million for repair and renovation works, Behera told the daily.
Orissa Cricket Association (OCA) has prepared a budget of Rs 60 million and Rs 220 million as insurance for the match, Behera added.
Behera said that restoration of the floodlights will be completed in next 4-5 days. “The stadium has sustained damage during the cyclone Fani. But we are hopeful of completing all the restoration work much before the match,” he added.
The ODI match between India and West Indies on December 22 at the Barabati Stadium, will mark the return of international cricket at the venue after around two years.
The West Indies team will tour India in the month of December to play 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is.
