MUMBAI: Media giants ESPN has won the digital clip rights in Hong Kong and South East Asia for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 this summer, expecting to showcase highlights and best moments from the tournament to 2 million fans on its flagship websites, ESPN.com and ESPNcricinfo, Exchange4Media reports.
These will feature the highs and lows, plus reviews of critical aspects such as ‘Top Performer of the Match’, ‘Turning Point of the Match’ and ‘Partnership of the Match’ which can be accessed by viewers in UK, Ireland and Australia as well.
There are other initiatives such as ‘The Greatest World Cup Matches’ which will be 10 of the best of all time picked by a jury of experts. These will be showcased in the form of images, texts and interviews from former players involved in them.
ESPN SouthEast Asia GM Lance Peatey stated: “After looking at the size of the audience that came to ESPNcricinfo for the 2015 tournament across Southeast Asia and Hong Kong, it made sense to bring those highly-engaged fans an extra level of coverage in 2019. We are excited by the prospect of serving even more fans in the region this time around.”
